Synopsis

Sivadhasan is a Tamil Tiger soldier. After his side lost during the Sri Lankan Civil War, he decides to flee to France and start a new life. However, in order to secure political asylum, he requires a convincing cover story. He takes the passport of a dead man named Dheepan and takes two strangers, a woman and a little girl, to pose as his family. Upon arrival, he gets a job as a resident caretaker of a run-down housing block in the suburbs, which is run by drug dealers. There, it becomes a new war zone for Dheepan who tries to start a new life.
