Synopsis

Based on Charles Willeford`s book of the same name, the movie follows James Figueras, an art critic who has fallen from grace but remains as ambitious and charming as ever. When he is summoned by wealthy art collector Joseph Cassidy to the man`s lavish Lake Como estate, he heads there with his enigmatic American lover Berenice Hollis. He soon learns that Cassidy wants him to steal a painting from Jerome Debney, a legendary reclusive artist.
