Synopsis

Following the United States` chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan in August 2021, the Taliban discovered an American base in Kabul reportedly used as a secret CIA station. Inside, they found billions worth of sophisticated American weaponry: small arms, munitions, jet fighters, Black Hawk helicopters, and other military equipment. Egyptian journalist-director Ibrahim Nash`at was granted rare but restricted access, showing what the Taliban permit him to film. It documents the Taliban`s transformation from fundamentalist militia to armed military regime as they meticulously inventory, repair, and learn to operate the sophisticated American weaponry left behind. The Taliban themselves begin employing Hollywood-style propaganda techniques to legitimise their regime - a chilling reflection of rising authoritarianism globally.
