Synopsis

In 2018, 22 activists from 15 countries sailed on Al Awda to challenge Israel`s blockade of Gaza and deliver aid to Palestinians. Among them were two Singaporeans: filmmaker Jason Soo and doctor Ang Swee Chai, widow of exiled lawyer Francis Khoo. The film features brief portraits of the group, including an Israeli ex-air force captain, an Algerian journalist, a Swedish singer and a Malaysian academic. As the boat nears their destination, the activists undergo training in nonviolent resistance - tactics to calmly deal with the inevitable forceful arrests by the Israeli military - and discuss strategies of care and solidarity. This film presents a snapshot of a specific moment in an interminable war.
