Electrifying!
I wanted this film to be glorious and it was GLORIOUS indeed! If you loved the book (it defers a little), you’ll enjoy this as much, and perhaps even more. It’s always a pleasure to put the glamorous thoughts on screen. There are elements of Chinese culture in everything from little details in the sets, to classic soundtracks, to the gap that sometimes exists between Chinese and Chinese-Americans. I also loved the celebration of the mouth-watering food, and the warmth of that scene early on in the hawker centre. It’s also got an all-Asian cast, which because of the novelty, puts it under a microscope. Make no mistake, it’s not a documentary or an attempt to cover all aspects of a very diverse culture or a place like Singapore, but I think it should be appreciated for what it is - a good story. At the end of the day, it’s a laugh-out-loud romantic comedy, and you can expect a dreamy, beautiful wedding scene. I can’t wait for what’s to come!
Crazy Rich Asians boast an all Asian cast. This is something that is of prominence as it is a huge step forward in the fight for inclusiveness and diversity in casting in Hollywood. The film is charming, with a talented cast. It is a great Romantic Comedy Film and it only works due to Constance Wu playing such a relatable character and allows for the audience to not feel too seperated from the wealth of the Crazy Rich Of The World. This film also gives us a sleek and beautiful look into what it’s like to live in Singapore and how it’s like to be the 0.1%. With all of its twist and turns, it is a superb story backed by strong performances and brings across the message of the differing ideals between American Ideals and Traditional Chinese Ideals. It is a Must-Watch not only because of the cultural significance of having a film with a largely Asian cast but also because of its story.
I went into the movie thinking that it was a light hearted movie. Oh no no honey, it was filled with meaningful lessons that we can relate to. Since many Singaporean parents are still very much traditional. Cried a lot and I loved every single second of it
This is a movie you should watch. It is funny yet touching. One of the reason being asian actor/actress were being chosen to act in this movie. However it is hard to imagine to have such a lifestyle in Singapore.
It was just like the book! Though the plot seemed to be a little long, the pace and interesting storyline made up for it. Loved the all Asian cast and Chinese culture references throughout the movie and was surprised to see some local faces. The entire theatre was buzzing with excitement! Would gladly watch it again!
This is a fun cultural movie about Singapore and how it would be like if someone was suddenly pushed into a rich life. The characters are amazing and the displays are spectacular! I loved how the movie played out and this is a must-see! Awesome movie, if you watch it you will not regret!
With an all asian cast, Crazy Rich Asians is a movie to reckoned with in hollywood. Fun, emotional and entertaining, it was a joyride of a movie! Plus Henry Golding himself is stunning.
Great show that brings humor to Singapore culture. Casting was good. Cinematography was alittle weird during the transitioning with the cut scenes of places. But overall a splendid movie!
I'm so proud of this movie and that it features Singapore actors and Singapore's skyline! Everyone in Singapore and everywhere needs to watch this... Even if you're not into romantic stuff, it's still very entertaining!!!
