The fall movie season is upon us…
…and that means the blockbusters will come thick and fast in anticipation of the holidays!
With It scaring up record-breaking numbers, and both Kingsman: The Golden Circle and The Lego Ninjago Movie punching in huge success, the onus lies with a few exciting titles to keep the proverbial ball rolling in the right direction.
Will they falter under the weight of expectations? We certainly don’t think so! Here’s a list of films to check out in October 2017:

Directed by master storyteller Denis Villeneuve (Sicario; Arrival), Blade Runner 2049 is the long-awaited sequel to Ridley Scott’s 1982 sci-fi classic.
Recently described as “the best script I’ve ever read” by Harrison Ford, the film takes place 30 years after the events of the original, and follows a new blade runner, Officer K (Ryan Gosling), who unearths a dark secret that could bring an end to humanity.

A remake of To Be Number One, winner of the ‘Hong Kong Film Award for Best Film’, Chasing The Dragon teams Asian superstars Andy Lau and Donnie Yen for a gritty action crime drama that harks back to the classic gangster movies of the 80s and 90s.
The film traces illegal immigrant Crippled Ho’s (Yen) arrival in Hong Kong, his rise to power in the Triads, his friendship with policeman Lee Rock (Lau), and his path to becoming one of the most ruthless drug lords in the country.

As part of his new production company, Studio Ghibli alum Hiromasa Yonebayashi, animator of beloved titles such as Spirited Away and Howl’s Moving Castle, is finally emerging from the shadow of his venerable mentor Hayao Miyazaki and releasing his first-ever solo film.
Based on the novel The Little Broomstick, Mary And The Witch’s Flower follows a young girl who finds a mysterious flower that can give her the power to become a witch for one night only.

Big-budget disaster movie Geostorm may have been plagued by its fair share of disasters such as unfavourable early screenings in 2015 and multiple delays, but boy does that trailer look ridiculously epic. Following significant reshoots, it looks ready to take the world by storm… again.
Set in the near future, the film stars 300 star Gerard Butler as a satellite designer who tries to save the world from a storm of epic proportions caused by malfunctioning climate-controlling satellites.

And finally, the one you’ve all been waiting for!
Probably the biggest film of the year alongside Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Thor: Ragnarok marks the penultimate film before the long-awaited superhero team-up in Avengers: Infinity War.
Deviating from the regal formula of the series, up-and-coming director Taika Waititi is injecting his signature comedic and visual flair to create a hyper-stylised threequel. By the looks of everything we’ve seen so far, Thor: Ragnarok is promising to be the most fun and off-kilter entry in the MCU.
The film takes place after the events of Avengers: Age of Ultron, and follows Thor as he is held captive on the planet Sakaar. In order to return to Asgard in time to stop the villainous Hela from unleashing Ragnarok, he must win a gladiatorial duel against his old friend and ally – the Hulk.
