Elphaba, now the Wicked Witch of the West, lives in exile fighting for Oz`s Animals while trying to expose the Wizard`s truth. Glinda has become Oz`s glamorous symbol of Goodness, living in Emerald City and preparing to marry Prince Fiyero. Under Madame Morrible`s instruction, she reassures the masses all is well. Haunted by her separation from Elphaba, Glinda attempts reconciliation between her friend and the Wizard, but fails, driving them further apart. The fallout transforms Boq and Fiyero forever and threatens Nessarose`s safety when a girl from Kansas crashes into their lives. As an angry mob rises against the Wicked Witch, Glinda and Elphaba must unite one final time.
